"I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass."-- Maya Angelou

Welcome Wee One

July 2nd 2011 - 1 day before my due date and still not a single sign of labor beginning - induction date was set for 3 days from today. I made a joke to my husband and then to facebook about seeing my hometown's 4th of July parade that morning and then labor could start. So we got ready, got baby girl ready and headed out the door to the parade. Rylee loved every second of the parade and I got to hang out with a long lost friend, which made my day! Upon heading home I felt great and had my mind set on the fact that this baby wasnt going to come out on its own and that I was going to need to use drugs and other things to cope with an induction (something I was not looking forward too).

Well we got home and I ate a big bowl of noodles and decided I was going to nap the afternoon away. Well wee one (or gummibear as we had began calling it, since we didnt know the sex) had other plans...plans that seemed to include coming out.

WARNING....DISCLAIMER...DONT READ IF YOU DONT LIKE BIRTH STORIES!!
Well I went to the bathroom before taking my "nap" and there it was - that first sign labor is coming...other mother's will know what this means but incase you dont..."bloody show". Dont google it, it will just make you sick. Trust me on this one. I decided after the initial excitement passed for both me and hubs that I was still going to take a nap. After about an hour of sleeping it really began...contractions and good ones. WHAM BAM WHAM...
Laboring at home as long as I could was always my goal but my worry was making it to the hospital almost an hour away...So I labored and Rylee played Dr as I did.  It was cute and exactly what I needed at the time. By 7pm when it was time to put Rylee to bed I kissed her goodnight knowing it would be the last time I was the mother to only 1 and gave her some serious extra loving. Little did she know her life was going to change drastically too in only a few hours!
Scott decided to try and get a few hours of sleep also because we knew it was only a matter of time before we needed to go to the hospital and after a 3 day labor with Rylee anything was possible.
Finally at 11pm I called the hospital, though I didnt want to. I was still fine laboring at home, really I was. Scott insisted because the contractions were rough and getting pretty close together. I called they told me to do what I thought was best and they would see me when they see me. Scott called his mother so she could come over and sleep at our house to take care of Rylee...once she arrived Scott wanted to be out the door, I wasnt so sure about even going to the hospital yet, but you dont mess with a man whose wife is about to have a baby. I swear he was more demanding than I had been my entire pregnancy and I didnt want him to have to try to pick my lard ass up and carry me out so I went willingly.
12:30ish is when the time gets a little hazy for me, we drove down some pretty rough roads that threw my contractions into a frenzy and they were coming every 3 minutes. Anyone pregnant in the area and want to help labor along I will let you know what roads they are because it worked!
At the hospital in triage they checked and I was 5cm, I was disappointed, I thought I was going to be farther along since my contractions were 3 minutes apart at that point and off the chart strong. Once settled in our LDR room I got into the labor tub and hung out for maybe an hour, called my mom and told her she could come to the hospital if she wanted. By the time she arrived I was out of the tub, the time at this point is lost on me but I am guessing somewhere between 2 and 3.
July 3rd 2011 - Gummibear's Due Date...
3:30am I was done with this labor thing and I wanted an epidural, my will for a natural delivery was weaning and I just wanted it all to be over. Our Dr came in and checked my cervix and told me I was too far to have an epidural and I cried but a wave of relief came over me. My birth plan still in effect. She broke my water and that was it, this baby was coming out and soon.
I pushed twice and at 4:06am we had a baby. The time was so important to us because Rylee was born 27 months earlier at 4:06am. We couldnt believe it at all.
"Its a boy" it was wonderful to hear...one of each...we were so happy. Scott who was convinced we were having another girl said "its a girl, but with a penis" ever the humorous one I was probably the only one that got his joke and laughed.
Natural birth, no drugs no epidural and I was in PAIN, but my body took over and everything went so smooth and perfect. Ryan Middleton was here and all 8lbs of him were beautiful.

Its incredible how love can multiple especially when you add another child to your life. Now the adventure of having 2 children under 3 begins. I hope I can keep up
